The Department of architecture was founded in 2004 with a five-year professional education system. At present, there are 300 students in 10 classes. For many years, the enrollment score line of this major has been in the forefront of the whole university. It is a first-class professional construction point in Hubei Province. It has a master's degree program in architecture and has cooperated with many design enterprises in the country. The supply of graduates is in short supply. In the course of 17 years of school running, the undergraduate teaching achievements of architecture major have achieved initial results, and students have won provincial excellent thesis and provincial competition awards for many times. There are 12 full-time teachers in the Department, including 7 teachers with senior titles (Professor and associate professor). All the full-time teachers have master's or doctor's degree. There are three double qualified teachers and three teachers who have obtained master's or doctor's degrees abroad.

Under the Department of architecture, the prefabricated construction engineering technology research center is set up. The teachers in the Department have presided over and completed many projects, such as the cooperative education project of the Ministry of education, the natural science foundation of Hubei Province, the transportation department of Hubei Province, the social science fund of Hubei Province, the science and Technology Department of Wuhan City, and the housing and Urban Rural Development Department of Wuhan city. In terms of curriculum construction, three school level open courses were approved as excellent, and participated in the construction of one provincial excellent open course.

Architecture major follows the education concept of "moral education first, knowledge-based, ability oriented, and all-round development", cultivates and adapts to the needs of socialist modernization and local economic and social development, has the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and social responsibility, grasps the professional knowledge of architecture, and understands the project planning, management and practical operation in the field of engineering construction at home and abroad Real estate investment and operation management, with basic theoretical knowledge and basic engineering practice ability engaged in architectural design, architectural group planning and design, interior design and landscape design. It is oriented to the construction industry and can be applied in construction units, design units, construction units, engineering construction supervision units, real estate enterprises, investment and financial fields, etc, Engaged in architectural design and related work, and obtained the basic training of registered architect application-oriented senior talents.

Under the background of new infrastructure construction advocated by the state, architecture major has great social demand, good employment prospects and strong adaptability. According to the students' enrollment situation, we should teach students in accordance with their aptitude, strengthen the training of professional basic skills, highlight the cultivation of students' ability, and attach importance to the ability training of rapid design. After several years of study in school, the students have solid basic professional skills. In the postgraduate examination in recent years, many students of this major have obtained excellent results from Huazhong University of science and technology, Wuhan University, Wuhan University of technology, Xiamen University, Xi'an University of architecture and technology, Chongqing University, Shenzhen University, etc.

The employment rate of graduates of this major has been in the forefront, and the salary is high after graduation. The Department of architecture has good cooperation with many domestic design enterprises, and has set up teaching practice base. The mode of cooperation between application-oriented universities and enterprises is adopted to allow enterprises to participate in personnel training and construction, and excellent undergraduates are recommended to enter class a qualification design enterprise practice. In addition to learning humanities, art, history and architectural design related courses in school, students will carry out at least half a year's practical teaching relying on the teaching practice bases inside and outside the school, so as to cultivate excellent architects and professional and technical talents who can engage in architectural design, urban design and environmental design, or design, research, teaching, construction, consulting and management in the field of architecture.

Based on their own research projects and research directions, the teachers of the department actively guide the university students' scientific research and cultivate their scientific research practical ability. Internet + College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship project has also achieved good results in provincial competitions in recent two years, which further broadens students' awareness and participation in innovation and entrepreneurship.
